Want more funny?

I hope everyone enjoyed our visit from comedian Earl David Reed Wednesday. If you want to learn more on how what he does is relevant to what we do, check out this article from the Nieman Narrative Digest and this one from Poynter.

Leave a comment about how you think comedy can work in a newspaper.

  1. Jack Hart and Chip Scanlan are right on -- funny stories are great in newspapers.
It's important to remember that a humorous tale is not what everyone should be trying to write all the time; it's part of a whole, one of many kinds of stories we want in the paper and online.
The key is to look for the opportunity to tell one -- to find a story that can be told that way, and then do it.
With those types of stories among our mix of hard news, features, alternate story forms and complication/resolution tales, we will be a compelling read.
